Museum at Lower Shaker Village: The complex on Route 4A includes Shaker buildings, herb gardens and a museum of Shaker artifacts. At the same location, but privately owned, are a furniture workshop that is open to the public and the Shaker Inn. The latter is a classic example of Shaker architecture: a multistory stone building that was the tallest structure north of Boston when it was completed in 1841. Hours: Memorial Day to the second week in October, Monday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Sunda y 12-5 p.m.; the rest of the year the hours are Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday noon-4 p.m. For information call (603) 632-4346.
Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette: The La Salette order of Catholic missionaries took over the former Shaker community in 1927. La Salette offers a Christmas lighting display.
Lakes: Mascoma and Crystal lakes offer boating and fishing, with public boat launches on both lakes. Nonresident permits for the town beach on Mascoma Lake can be purchased at the town office.
Enfield Wildlife Management Area: The state-owned wildlife area on Bog Road has hiking trails and a pond.
Bicknell Brooks Trail: Just off Grafton Pond Road, nature enthusiasts find an interpretive trail, an easy 45-minute stroll with approximately 60 designated places with identified shrubs and other wildlife.
