Town Meeting preview: Local option tax heads to Woodstock voters

Article of note: One article asks whether voters support a 1% local option sales tax with proceeds to be allocated toward infrastructure costs. 

Contested races: Laura Powell and Scott Smith are vying for a seat on the Selectboard.

Budgets and other spending articles: The proposed budget is $8.02 million, with $6.6 million expected to come from taxes. Last year’s proposed budget was $7.68 million. The proposed sewer department budget is $1.34 million, of which $1.3 million is to come from user fees. Last year’s proposed sewer budget was $1.21 million.

When, where and how to vote: There will be an informational meeting on Zoom, us02web.zoom.us/j/84782406503?pwd=UXAzWnJxaEE0MzJaMlBKeHJPUjB6QT09, and in person at town hall on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. Ballot voting will take place on Tuesday, March 5 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
