Susan (Small) Olney

New London, N.H. — Susan (Small) Olney, 78, of Hilltop Place died Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

She was born in West Allis, Wis., on June 24, 1939, the daughter of Cuthbert and Betty (Marr) Small.

Sue graduated from Slinger, Wis., High School and attended the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. She lived in Rochester, N.Y. and moved to New London in 1968.

She was active in town, loved her family, as well as connecting and supporting legions of friends who she considered family. She spent her entire life fully committed to her church and served extensively on various committees and boards as well as teaching Sunday School. Sue was a supporter of children and believed in second chances and volunteered for many years with the Juvenile Diversionary Court. She and Ed have been attending St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in New London and Sue had been a volunteer at the Renaissance Shop.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edward W. Olney of New London; four children, Missy and her husband, Jeff Owen of New London, Melinda “Mindy” Galluzzo of New London, Ned and his wife, Jackie Olney of Manila, Philippines and Meredith and her husband, Stephen Wallace of Bedford, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren, Brittany, Ashley, Haley, Connor, Taylor, Cassidy, Andrew, Nicholas, Brooks, Briana and Tucker; two great-granchildren, Brody and Bailey; four siblings, Sharon and her husband, Herman Lehmann and Linda Swindle all of Dallas, Texas, Jeff and his wife, Marianne Small and Jill Stai all of San Antonio, Texas; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at 10 a.m. at The First Baptist Church, 461 Main Street, New London.
