SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — Senior Solutions, a nonprofit organization that assists older adults, has received a $13,000 grant to help home-delivered meal recipients care for their pets.

The grant, awarded by Pet Smart Charities, will allow the Springfield, Vt.-based nonprofit organization to provide free pet food to older adults in 46 towns in Vermont’s Bennington, Orange, Windham and Windsor counties. It is the second year in a row Senior Solutions has received a grant from Pet Smart Charities, according to a news release.

The funding will go to its “Foxy Fund,” which helps older adults pay for veterinary and dental care, and boarding. Currently, funding provides food for 133 cats and dogs owned by older adults in Senior Solutions’ service area.
