Town funding is approved by Royalton voters

ROYALTON — At the floor meeting on Tuesday, voters approved all articles.

The general fund budget voters approved is $1.8 million, of which $1.6 million is to come from taxes. The highway budget voters approved is $1.3 million, of which $1.17 million is to come from taxes.

Voters also supported creating a Recreation Reserve Fund and seeding it with $2,000 from taxes. They supported five-year property tax exemptions for the 2.9-acre Paine’s Beach recreation area and the Royalton Area Food Shelf, at 2955 Vt. Route 14, owned by the United Church of South Royalton.

At the polls, running unopposed, Nell Gwin and Patrick Dakin were elected to two and three-year Selectboard seats, respectively.

Of 2,042 voters on the checklist, 438 cast Australian ballots.
