Dorchester, N.H. —  Robert W. Pon, 92, Died with loving family and friends by his side, at home in Dorchester, N.H. On Sunday, August 21, 2016. A son of Florence Hilton and beloved stepfather, Yee Pon, he was born in Cleveland, Ohio on Oct. 29, 1923.

Cherished husband of Katherine Scanlon-Pon; loving father of Michael Pon (Shannon Connor); grandson, Kennedy; nieces, Susan Graham and Nicole Lodato; sister-in-law, Ann Wilson; great-nieces Haley and Caitlin, and nephew, Joey.

He served as a medic with the 279th Engineer Combat Battalion, U.S. Army in Germany in World War ll. Awarded the Bronze Star for administering first aid to the wounded under intense enemy artillery fire, in full view of the enemy.

For 30 years, he was employed by the New York Public Library as an illustrator. He remained an ardent observer of the life and streets of the city all his life.

Always an artist, he lived to paint, draw, and sculpt, and never turned his gifted eyes away from the wonders and sorrows of this world.
