Bethel, Vt. — Nancy “Nana” L.  Franklin, 62, died unexpectedly on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017. She was born July 22, 1955 to Robert and Nancy (Corse) Lamb in Hanover, N.H., and was the youngest of six children.

Nana grew up in Woodstock, Vt., on Rolling Ridge Farm. She then spent time with her father in County Tipperary, Ireland where she made lifelong friends before returning to Vermont in 1981.

In December of 1983 Nana married Willie Franklin. Together they showed their daughters the US through travel and living in numerous places throughout their early childhood years before returning to Vermont.

Nana was a housekeeper for several establishments for much of her career, as well as a woodworker. She built beautiful benches, picnic tables and various boxes.

She loved spending time with her family and friends, traveling each fall to the Fryeburg Fair with Willie in their camper, planting flowers. She enjoyed playing cribbage and a great horse show.

Nana is survived by her husband Willie Franklin of Bethel; children Sarah Franklin Eckler (Eric) of Bridgewater, Vt., Beverly L. Franklin (fiancé Tom Harris) of Sarasota Fla., Nicolas Stickney of Bethel, and many furbabies.

She is also survived by five siblings; Diana “Dinah” Bain (Charlie) of Bridport, Vt., Elizabeth “Dibbit” Lamb of Landstrum, S.C., Barbara Lamb of Langley, Wash., Richard Lamb (Terri Morris) of Aiken, S.C., and David Lamb (Sharon) of So. Strafford, Vt.; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is predeceased by her parents and several friends and family with whom we hope she is reunited now.

Nana was a devoted mother, wife and sister, a wonderful friend and neighbor and will be sorely missed by many for her laugh, generosity, listening ear and great advise.

A celebration of Nana’s life will be held at the Barnard Town Hall in Barnard, Vt., on Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at 2 p.m. with a reception there to follow.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Nana’s memory may be made to Green Mountain Horse Association, P.O. Bo 8, South Woodstock, Vermont 05071.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock. An online guest book can be found at cabotfh.com.
