Mary Rebecca Pyle Pyke

Kissimmee, Fla. — Mary Rebecca Pyle Pyke was born Sept. 22, 1934, in Chicago, Ill., to Russell Willard and Jeanette Gilbert Pyle. Becky passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home in Kissimmee on May 4, 2017, after a brief illness. She was a loving wife to Harold F. Pyke and adoring mother to Hal (Pamela), David (Tracy), and Katy (Daniel) Brohlman. She was a grandmother and great grandmother. She is also survived by her brother, Ransford C. Pyle of Gainesville, Fla.

Becky graduated with a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Denison University in 1957. She married her husband, Harold F. Pyke, and both received their Master’s Degrees in Fine Arts from Boston University in 1960. While living in Woodstock, Vt., Becky worked as an administrative assistant at Dartmouth College in the early 1970’s. Becky and her family moved out of the area for many years and after raising their family retired to Brownsville, Vt., in 1996. During this time she was an active volunteer at Mt. Ascutney Regional Hospital and the Brownsville Community Church. She was a former president of the Heart of the Land Quilters Guild and an active member of the Juniper Hill Quilters. She was a talented painter, designer, quilter, and crafter.

She and her husband lived in the Windsor area for the past 20 years before moving to Florida in November.

A memorial service is being planned in Brownsville for this summer.
