Loraine A. Chase

Randolph, Vt. — Loraine A. Chase, 91, of Randolph, died Sunday afternoon, Feb. 11, 2018, at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.

She was born Sept. 26, 1926, in Montpelier, Vt., the daughter of A. Ralph & Clara Belle (Morse) St. Cyr. She graduated from Plainfield High School, and following graduation worked at American Fidelity Insurance Company in Montpelier. She was married to Francis Chase in Plainfield on Sept. 20, 1947, and moved to Randolph in 1952. She and Francis enjoyed square dancing, camping, homemaking and time spent with family.

Francis died in 1984. Loraine had worked as a hot lunch worker at Randolph Elementary School for many years. She was married to Howard Rainey in 1994, and they enjoyed trips in his motor home and time with family. He died in 2003. She was later married to Bud Cedarstaff. They enjoyed visiting extended family, Senior Center trips, and a trip to Sweden. Loraine was a long time member of Bethany Church where she served as secretary, Order of the Eastern Star, President of the Women’s Fellowship Evening Guild, was a Sunday school teacher and deaconess.  She had also been a member of Montague Golf Course, Hearth & Home, Gifford Medical Center Auxiliary and volunteered in their thrift store. Loraine enjoyed attending high school sporting events and Red Sox baseball.

Survivors include her husband, Bud Cedarstaff of Randolph; sons, Steven Chase and Robert Chase; daughter, Sally Selcke; four grandchildren, Henry and Jesse Chase, Christopher and Erin Rader; four great-grandchildren, Jesse, Ethan, Miles and Adrian Chase; and eight step-children. In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was predeceased by her brother, Ervin St. Cyr and granddaughter, Kelly Rader.

Calling hours will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb, 17, 2018, at the Day Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 11, 2018, at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel in Randolph Center, with burial following. Contributions in her memory may be made to Randolph Senior Center, 6 Hale Street, Randolph, VT 05060 and to Bethany Church, 30 N.
