Hanover
Daisy Haley and Sydney Broughton each had RBI doubles to lead the Lebanon attack. Karli Sou, Julia Tibbits, Abbey Brann, Morganne Young each had two hits, and Kristen Anderson, Carlee Schettino and Maddy Tilton had a hit apiece.
Anderson pitched a complete game for the Raiders, surrendering 10 hits. Lebanon improved its record to 2-9, with both victories coming at the expense of its neighborhood rival. The Raiders beat Hanover, 17-1, in Lebanon on April 22.
Becca Wilson started in the circle for the Marauders and struck out four. Sarah Kohl scored four runs to lead the Hanover offensive charge. Anna Heise had a two-run double in the third inning. Third baseman Mackenzie Cutting had a strong game defensively for Hanover (0-13).
Both teams are back in action today when Lebanon hosts John Stark and Hanover visits Manchester West.
White River Junction
Rachel Loseby had two of Hartford’s seven hits and contributed a pair of RBIs. Brooke Hurd picthed six innings in the loss.
Hartford plays its third game in three days today, traveling to Fair Haven.
Hinsdale, n.h.
Faith Larpenter was the winning pitcher, striking out eight, walking three and surrendering two hits in six innings.
Larpenter also went 1-for-2 at the plate of runs at the plate, while catcher Lexie Hamilton went 2-for-4 with a run and Katie Frederick 1-for-4 with an RBI double.
Hannah Cooney pitched the seventh for the Lakers, who host Wilton-Lyndeborough on Thursday.
Ludlow, Vt. —
Moore pitched a four-hitter, striking out four, and the Woodstock defense had a strong game to help keep Black River off the scoreboard. Center fielder Hannah Reali made what turned out to be a game-saving catch in the bottom of the fourth inning when she leapt at the fence to steal a would-be three-run home run for the third out.
Loretta Blakeney had a solo home run for Woodstock in the sixth. Kaila Lemmer had an RBI on a fielder’s choice in the third inning, scoring Reali. Stevens held Woodstock to two hits while striking out 11 in tough-luck loss.
The Wasps host a doubleheader with Poultney on Saturday.
Bethel
The Trojans drew eight walks off starting pitcher Laura Vaillancourt, who gave up seven runs in three innings before being relived by Amelia Mattrick (four innings, two strikeouts, two walks, two hits).
Kayla Townsend (2-for-2) and Lindsey LaPerle (2-for-4) each had two hits and a run scored for Whitchester, which visits Twinfield on Thursday.
White River Junction
“Everything was working for him,” said Grassi. “He was able to utilize his fastball and curve ball and didn’t put himself in a hole.
“We wanted to get a couple guys some work today, but how do you take someone out when they’re pitching that well in the fourth or fifth inning? They only get so many opportunities for a game like this.”
Perkins struck out nine of the first 10 batters he faced and augmented his performance at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and two RBIs.
Jordy Allard (3-for-5) also drove in a pair, while Brandon Gaudet made his lone hit count, clearing the bases with a triple in Hartford’s five-run fourth inning.
Moises Celaya drew both walks for the Marauders (3-8), who lost their sixth in a row.
The Hurricanes (7-5) are right back at it today, visiting Otter Valley. Hanover is off until hosting Lebanon on Friday.
Chester, Vt.
Josh Scoskie pitched the first 8 innings for SoRo, striking out 15 while allowing one hit and four walks. Justin Brock pitched the duration in relief.
Green Mountain scored on two walks and an infield hit in the first inning and then two walks and a clean single in the bottom of the 11th. SoRo scored a game-tying run in the top of the seventh inning when Dominick Small singled, and an ensuing pinch runner eventually scored on a double steal.
Scoskie finished 3-for-5 and Small was 2-for-5. The Royals (10-2) host Poultney on Saturday.
Bethel
Matt Townsend struck out nine and walked three in six innings for the win, helping his own cause with a pair of RBIs.
Ben Harvey (2-for-4, RBI) and Zak Gillette (1-for-3, three RBIs) also contributed offensively for Whitchester, which faces Twinfield again Thursday in Plainfield, Vt.
Bradford, Vt.
Randolph scored four unearned runs in the second inning on four errors to take control in the early going. Starting pitcher Eddie White went 4-for-4 to lead the Oxbow attack. Noah Johnson added three hits and drove in one.
White pitched a complete game, scattering six hits and five walks while striking out four. Oxbow visits Blue Mountain on Thursday.
East Montpelier, Vt.
Jack Sweet had an RBI single to account for the lone Thetford run. Nick Moses added a double. The Panthers (3-9) host Harwood on Thursday.
Windsor
Jake Meagher was 2-for-3 and had a walk to lead the Windsor offense. Pitcher Nick Kapuscinski allowed eight runs, six of which were earned, on nine hits. The Jacks will host Fair Haven on Saturday.
Quechee
Nate Lemieux led the way with two goals and three assists for Hartford, while Reece Thompson (one assist), Nick Dorain, Andrew Dailey and Joe Batchelder all scored twice.
Gavin Shropshire, Austin Barber and Matt Lucke scored one goal each, and Walkker Judd had two assists for the Canes.
Goalie Chris Dorain made five saves for the Canes, who head to Otter Valley on Saturday.
Manchester
“We played an excellent game of lacrosse,” Gary wrote in an email. “(We played) great team defense, controlled ball movement, and time of possession kept us in the game and controlled the score.”
Nate Damren and Ethan Didehbani scored for Lebanon, while Aaron Damren notched an assist and goalie Bryan Albright made nine saves.
The Raiders (4-6) return home to face Hopkinton today.
Dover, n.h.
Graham Penfield, Reed Winter, Brian Seltzer, Jake Acker, Ryan Pattison and Nic Johnson scored for Hanover. George Geraghty had three assists. Seltzer and Kaleb Hunt each had one assist, and Goalie Zander Lingelbach-Pierce finished with six saves.
“It was tight throughout. We kept trying to make a run and they answered every single time,” Hanover coach Ryan Gardner said.
The Marauders visit Bishop Guertin at Rivier University today.
Contoocook, n.h.
Lebanon trailed 12-9 in the fourth quarter before rallying to within a goal in the final minute. Kendra MacDonald led the Raiders with five goals and an assist. Cecilia Webber had three goals. Katie Berthasavage added two goals. Izzy Walker and Caroline Wren each had a goal. Ashlyn Tabor added an assist and goalie Elizabeth Jones had six saves.
The Raiders were playing without starter Elle Brine, who was out with illness. It was the third straight game that Lebanon (5-5) was missing a key starter.
“We just couldn’t rally. We haven’t had our full starting squad for three games and it’s made a difference for sure. Hopefully for Thursday with Bow we’re back to full steam,” Lebanon coach Sara Ecker said.
Bennington, Vt.
Hartford’s No. 1 singles player, Danny Nguyen, earned a 6-1, 6-0 win, while Hurricane doubles tandems Riley Kehoe-Ashazi Shakur (No. 1; 6-1, 6-4) and Hunter Brooks-Ethan Sneddon (6-0, 6-0) also prevailed.
The Canes are back at it this afternoon, hosting Brattleboro.
Windham, n.h.
Jacob Peress (8-1), Terran Campbell (8-0), Noah Didehban (8-3), Owen Johnstone (8-2), Ben Ask (8-0), and Noah Ryder (8-5) all earned singles wins for Lebanon.
At doubles, Campbell and Peress (8-1), Ask and Johnstone (8-3) and Didehbani and Ryder (8-2) were victorious.
The Raiders conclude a three-match road swing today at Goffstown.
Hampton, n.h.
Hanover (8-3) goes back on the road today to face Alvrine.
Woodstock
Senior captain Morgan Hartman won a thriller at No. 3 singles, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5). Kenzie Biele won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles for Woodstock. Sarah Findeisen added a 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 victory at No. 5 singles.
With the decision coming down to doubles play, the Wasps split a pair of tightly contested matches to get the victory. Elise Geschardt and Haley Usilton won 7-5, 5-7, 10-6 at No. 2 doubles to clinch it for Woodstock. The freshman duo of Katey MacMaster and Chloe Noble lost a barnburner at No. 1 doubles, 3-6, 7-5, 4-10.
Woodstock (12-1) concludes the regular season with home matches today against Rutland and Thursday against MSJ.
Hanover
Rine Uhm, Izzi Davis, Margaret Werner, Ellen Lamm, Bri Laycock and Emma Riessen all won in singles. Uhm/Davis and Werner/Lamm won their doubles matches. Riessen and Emma Watson teamed up at No. 3.
Hanover visits Coe-Brown today.
Woodstock
Rivendell’s Sam Kamel and Hartford’s Brandon Chaisson split medalist honors with a three-over par 38.
Ryan Landgraf added a 39 for Rivendell followed by 49 from both Jake Perkins and Jake Kamel.
Sam Dwyer and Cody Wessel each added 45 for the Canes.
Ben Healy had 53. Joe Bianchi had 44 to lead host Woodstock followed by Kevan O’Connell (48), Braden McCarthy (50) and Lucas Godfrey (51).
Chester, Vt.
Ben Meagher shot 43, Jacob Curtis 55 and Ben Thornton 56 for the Jacks.
Arlington’s Jack Lane — whose Eagles were the lone squad with enough golfers to post a team score (168) — medalled with a two-over-par 38.
Windsor hosts Green Mountain, Black River and Hartford on Monday at J.P. Larkin Country Club.
Hanover
The two-time defending Ivy League champs will head to Kentucky for their Sept. 2 opener and visit Xavier three says later before returning home. Dartmouth kicks off an eight-match home slate when Washington — coached by former Hanover High standout Jamie Clark — visits Hanover on Sept. 8, with another 2015 NCAA tourney entry, Seattle, coming to Whitey Burnham Field on Sept. 11.
The Big Green’s official defense of its league title starts at Princeton on Oct. 1.
