Interim Lebanon Middle School principal to hold position permanently

LEBANON — The interim Lebanon Middle School principal will become permanent, according to a news release from the school district.

Tom Harkins, who began his tenure as interim principal March 4, first took over leadership of the school after former Principal Colleen McIntyre announced in January that she would be on leave for the remainder of the year and not return.

“We are thrilled to have Tom become the permanent Principal at Lebanon Middle School,” Superintendent Amy Allen said in the Thursday news release. “...His experience, passion, and dedication to our students and staff make him the ideal choice for this role.”

Harkins, who lives in West Lebanon with his wife and three children, previously taught Spanish at the Lyme School and served as chairman of the Lyme teachers union. He also served a term on the Lebanon School Board.

He holds a degree in Spanish from Randolph-Macon College in Virginia and a master’s degree in education leadership from New England College in Henniker, N.H.

“I look forward to finishing this year on a high note and carrying that momentum forward to a great 2024-2025 school year,” Harkins said in the release.
