Hanover, N.H. — Dr. Kenneth W. Olsen, DMD, 71, passed away at home, unexpectedly, of metastatic melanoma on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017.

He was born on April 13, 1946, in Hackensack, N.J. and grew up in Westwood, N.J.

Ken graduated from Union College (a member of his beloved Phi Delta Theta fraternity) and later from University of Pennsylvania Dental School.

He started his dental practice on Wall Street in New York City with his father, Dr. Clinton Olsen. Ken came from a long line of dentists in the Olsen family and loved what he did. He eventually moved to Hanover New Hampshire where he practiced dentistry for over 40 years.

Ken was an active member of his community. He loved his church, First Baptist Church of Hanover in Etna, where he served as a trustee, on the inter church council, taught Sunday School and served many spaghetti dinners. He served on the boards of Meccawe Trout Club, the N.H. Selective Service, and Northeast Delta Dental.

Those who loved him always marveled at Ken’s amazing MacGyver-like ability to solve problems and fix things. Ken’s jokes and storytelling are legend. He loved fishing, golf and skiing with his buddies, and an all-around good time….and, he knew stuff.

Ken leaves behind his wife, June; his mother, Eleanore; two sons, Leif and Cabot; his sister and her husband, Marna and Chuck Davis; and his nephew, Tyler Davis. Ken was predeceased by his father, Dr. Clinton Olsen.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Melanoma Research Alliance (https://www.curemelanoma.org/) in Ken’s memory. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ricker Funeral Home & Crematory of Lebanon, N.H.

An online guest book is available to leave Ken’s family and friends a message of condolence by visiting www.rickerfuneralhome.com.
