Sunapee School Board Member Resigns After Husband Charged in Election Case

Monday, March 20, 2017

Sunapee — School Board member Heather Furlong has submitted her resignation from the board, just days after her husband was charged with several misdemeanors related to the 2016 Sunapee elections for the panel.

Authorities say Joseph Furlong altered an email related to the 2016 School Board elections and misrepresented the author of the altered email as someone who was running against his wife.

School Board Chairman Paul Skarin said in a phone interview today that Heather Furlong’s letter simply said, “Effectively immediately, I am resigning.”
