Police: Speed, Snow Factors in Fatal I-91 Crash

Hartland — Police said snow and speed were factors in a fatal accident on Interstate 91 southbound in Hartland on Thursday morning.

Rodney L. Newton, 50, of Plainfield, Vt., was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Vermont State Police news release.

Police responded around 7 a.m. to I-91 in the area of mile marker 66 to a single vehicle that had rolled over into the median.

The preliminary investigation found snowy road conditions and speed contributed to the crash, the release said.
