Branching up and out

Kris Mitchell, of Northern Tree Service maneuvers to another section of tree needing to be cut in Lyme Center, N.H., on Friday, Sepr. 8, 2023, as a crane operator carries away a locust branch that fell on utility lines, leaving residents in the area of Dorchester Road without power. John Campbell said one of the tree's several trunks fell on wires Thursday night and line workers from Eversource restored service around 7 a.m. Friday, but not long after, an other large branch of the tree broke and fell on wires. Eversource reported 94 customers without power due to the incident until it was restored at 2:20 p.m., and Lyme town officials said that 320 New Hampshire Electric Co-op customers in Lyme were without power at the peak of the damage on Friday. Campbell said the tree is one of several in the area planted after the 1938 hurricane. (Valley News - James M. Patterson) Copyright Valley News.
