South Royalton, Vt. — Dorothea I. Boles, 81, died Monday, March 5, 2018, at Birchwood Terrace in Burlington, Vt.

She attended grade school in Tunbridge, high school in South Royalton, and Zion Bible Institute in East Providence, R.I.

On June 30, 1956, she married the love of her life, Alexander E. Boles of South Royalton. They lived there all of their married lives.

She worked nights while her children were very young at Van Roltz, in Randolph, Vt., then when the children were in school at Dartmouth College until she retired in 1985.

She was a member of the Rebekah Assembly of VT- Ideal #70, Eastern Star Rising Sun-Chapter #12 O.E.S, and The Ladies Auxiliary to the V.F.W.

She was predeceased by her husband Alex, and a sister Neatha Purtell.

Dorothea “Mom Boles” as she was known to many, will be best remembered for her wonderful cooking, beautiful cake decorating, her generosity to others, and her love.

She cherished spending time with her family and friends. Having them gather at her home for picnics, with enough food for a small army. She also enjoyed bagpipe, church, and country music, dancing, reading, and babysitting her grand and great grandchildren.

Her house was home to anyone who came through her door. You were greeted with a hug, and a “sit down and let me get you something to eat!”
