Dartmouth Health symposium with former surgeons general looks at future of health care

LEBANON — Dartmouth Health, the Geisel School of Medicine and the C. Everett Koop Institute at Dartmouth are scheduled to host a roundtable on the future of health care with five visiting former U.S. surgeons general on Friday morning.

The roundtable is scheduled to take place from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and be streamed online via YouTube at: youtu.be/Nyzt4X8wrn0.

It will include welcoming remarks from Dr. Steven Bernstein, DHMC’s chief research officer and director of the Koop Institute. The panel will include former surgeons general Antonia Novello, Joycelyn Elders, Kenneth Moritsugu, Regina Benjamin and Jerome Adams. It will be moderated by Dr. Pierre Theodore, director of health equity and patient impact global pharmaceutical at Genentech.

The Friday panel will follow a discussion at Dartmouth College scheduled to take place on Thursday afternoon on the future of mental health and wellness. The five living former surgeons general are expected to be joined by the Biden administration Surgeon General Vivek Murthy for the Thursday talk, which will be held in person at Leede Arena and streamed online at: home.dartmouth.edu/events/surgeons-general-event.
