Town Meeting preview: Move to Australian ballot form of voting is before Bridgewater voters

Article of note: In three separate votes from the floor, voters will be asked whether to move to Australian ballot voting for the election of town officers, budget adoption and all public questions.

Contested races: Voters will elect town officers, including a Selectboard member, from the floor. 

Budgets and spending articles: Voters will be asked to approve a $1.54 million operating budget, of which $1.3 million will be raised by taxes. That is up from a $1.3 million budget approved last year, of which $935,000 was raised in taxes, according to previous reporting. They also will be asked to borrow up to $250,000 for a new truck for the highway department and a total of $24,250 for social service agencies.

When, where and how to vote: Town Meeting is scheduled to take place at 9 a.m. on March 7 at the Bridgewater Fire Rescue Station, 28 Southgate Loop.
