Lebanon Legion baseball eliminated from state tournament

NASHUA — The Lebanon Post 22 senior American Legion baseball team ended its season Sunday with a 9-3 loss to Concord Post 2 in the double-elimination state tournament at Holman Stadium.

Lebanon trailed, 1-0, after an inning but forged a 1-1 tie through two frames. Concord scored once during the fifth inning, twice during the sixth and five times during the seventh. Post 22 managed two runs during its seventh and final at-bat.

Lebanon had six hits, two of them by Bennett Hewett, who also contributed an RBI and a walk. Staring pitcher Dom Van Laere-Nutting lasted five innings, allowing four hits and four runs, three of them earned. He struck out six batters and walked two.

Reliever Matt Goss surrendered four hits and five runs, all earned, during a 1/13-inning stint. He struck out one opponent and walked two.

Lebanon finished 14-6, a year after going 1-17 and failing to reach the postseason.
