Mouth, adoptable from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society

“Hi! My name’s Mouth and I’m a 2-year-old neutered male that came to Lucy Mackenzie as a stray. I’m so happy I did, too, because I love being around people.

“Lots has happened since I’ve been here — I’ve been neutered, vaccinated and tested for lots of things, including feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV).

“It’s a good thing, too, because it turns out that I have it. You’d never know, though, because I’m so healthy otherwise! FIV-positive cats can live as long and healthy a life as non-infected cats, and we have the same needs as any other cat. To err on the side of caution, I should either be an only-cat, or I can live with another FIV-positive cat. I should also always be kept indoors. No more roaming outside for this guy! That’s OK, because I’d much rather be close to my people.

“I’m really affectionate, really playful and really sweet. If you’ve been looking for a new feline companion, stop in and meet me today!”

Mouth is up for adoption from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society, located at 4832 Route 44 in West Windsor and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 12-4 p.m. Lucy Mackenzie is also on Facebook and Twitter and can be reached at 802-484-5829.

Buddi, adoptable from Upper Valley Humane Society

“Hi! My name is Buddi, and I’m a sensitive 3-year-old cat. I’m the type of cat who likes to take my time getting to know you, since meeting new people can be a little scary for me. After some one-on-one time (and some treats), I'll be purring away before you know it!

“I’ve met cats here at the shelter, but don’t really seem to be interested in them. I’ve never met a dog before, so I’ll need a proper introduction.

“If you’d like a shy boy for your family, then come see me today!”

Buddi is up for adoption from the Upper Valley Humane Society, located at 300 Old Route 10 in Enfield and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The Upper Valley Humane Society is also on Facebook and Instagram and can be reached at 603-448-6888.

Kirby, adoptable from Sullivan County Humane Society

“I am 3-year-old Kirby! I am a shy guy but want so much to be loved. I showed up on someone’s porch begging for food — and devoured anything she nicely fed me.

“She noticed I was all matted too. But, I was too scared to let her touch me so she set a trap. It had super yummy food so I went in — and good thing I did.

“Next thing you know, I was here getting my mats shaved off, getting pets and kisses, and lots more yummy food!

“I am vet checked, neutered, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped and FIV/FeLV negative.”

Kirby is up for adoption from Sullivan County Humane Society, located at 145 Broad St. in Claremont. Please see hours on the humane society website at www.sullivancountyhumanesociety.org and Facebook. Call 603-542-3277 or email sullivanhumane@hotmail.com.
