West Lebanon -- Conor Joyce had just gotten his face splattered with whipped cream yesterday at Fore-U Golf Center's driving range, but the 10-year-old from White River Junction kept working his swing unfazed. A few spots over, 13-year-old Ethan Ticehurst had three clean drives before a fourth exploded the water balloon under his ball, soaking the area around him. See full story

One reason President Obama's attempt to “reset” relations with Russia may not go far was encapsulated in the opening words spoken by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev at a post-summit news conference Monday. “The United States and the Russian Federation,” he grandly declared, “have special responsibility for everything that is happening on our planet.” Well, no, they don't. The era when two roughly equal superpowers brokered the fate of other nations ended two decades ago -- and Russia, in particular, has nowhere near the clout of the former Soviet Union. North Haverhill -- A 52-year-old Canaan man was arraigned yesterday in Grafton County Superior Court on 28 counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault against a girl over a period of approximately nine years in Enfield and Canaan.

NEWS: Stryker Plant Cuts 19 Workers

West Lebanon -- Stryker Biotech cut 19 workers from its West Lebanon plant, about 13 percent of its work force, as part of a company “realignment” amid tough market conditions, a company spokesman confirmed yesterday.

NEWS: Protests Rekindle In Iran

Tehran, Iran -- Violent clashes erupted yesterday in downtown Tehran between thousands of defiant protesters chanting “Death to the dictator” and security forces wielding truncheons, as the political crisis over Iran's disputed presidential election stretched into its fourth week.
