Building the Montshire
When Joan Waltermire joined the staff of the Montshire Museum of Science in 1978 as a designer of exhibits, she was returning to the Upper Valley with a new masters degree in botany and fresh divorce papers. The museum had opened two years before to display Dartmouth College's donated, aging natural history collection in a hall on Lyme Road in Hanover previously used as a bowling alley. See full story
