Do Tax Credits Work?

News that a much-touted tax credit program to foster job creation in New Hampshire's geographically remote Coos County has proven to be an abject failure is not a huge surprise. The program became law just as the national economy went down in flames, and it's hard to think of much of anything that would have provided a hiring incentive powerful enough to overcome that crash. NEWS: Developer Wins Zoning Changes
Lebanon -- Voters yesterday overwhelmingly approved a zoning change tailored for a development of homes, science labs and retail shops proposed for Route 10, with supporters saying the project will inject vitality to West Lebanon and provide much needed recreational access to the Connecticut River.
