Newbury, Vt. -- Vermont State Police say they've cited Crash actor Matt Dillon for speeding for allegedly driving 106 miles per hour on Interstate 91 this week.
Actor Clocked At 106 mph on I-91
The Associated PressDillon, 44, of New York, was charged with excessive speed after being pulled over by a trooper on Interstate 91 in Newbury about 10 p.m. Tuesday. He was driving a rented 2009 Chevrolet Impala.
The posted speed limit was 65 mph, so Dillon was charged criminally under a statute that bans going more than 30 mph above the limit while traveling 60 mph or more.
He was fingerprinted, photographed and released with a citation to appear in Vermont District Court on Jan. 21.
If convicted, he could get three months in jail and be fined $300.
We're trying to treat him no different than we would anyone else, said Sgt. Tara Thomas, a State Police spokeswoman.
His publicist, Staci Wolfe, declined comment.
Dillon, whose screen credits include There's Something About Mary, Herbie Fully Loaded and The Flamingo Kid, got a best supporting actor Oscar nomination for 2004's Crash, in which he plays a bigoted police officer.
